On my profile, my slogan is question everything!’
So I would like to explore the question in the title.
On my journey through life, I have started to question some of the very basic memes we were indoctrinated with from early days.
One of them was the so called work ethic. At a young age, the masses were instilled with this idea that a good person works hard and has to pay for things. If you can recognise that as just conditioning you can get over it. It’s not the truth. Just an idea.
If you live in a city like I do, every day and night, tons of food is wasted. To me, it seems lazy and foolish to pay for food when it is being thrown away in such huge quantities around every corner of your city or town. If we were wise and had got over the ridiculous conditioning that we (unlike any other creature on earth) should work for a living to BUY food, then we would not be embarrassed to spend some time researching what local food businesses do with their left over food and arrange amicably and quietly to liberate that food from going into the bin. Surely, if you and I spent the time we would be working building relationships with local restaurants, green grocers, caterers and other food shops, we could surely strike a deal with at least a small percentage of them to share their food before it goes to waste.
If we don’t publicise what we are doing to others, I believe local business would be happy to help.
Then there’s growing our own food. Something which most of us, myself included, have litttle experience with.
It also strikes me as morally questionable supporting supermarkets for a whole plethora of reasons. For a Start, they are involved in factory farming. That means the raping of cows to get them lactating, the fiddling with their nipples (beastiality?) the stealing of their bodily fluids for our cereals, and if that’s not bad enough, the wholesale slaughter of millions of animals. And the murder of these beings is a good result for them because living on factory farms is no life at all.
Then there’s the relentless pushing of addictive and poisonous products. There’s sugar in so many things. And crisps, chocolate, cakes, alcohol, biscuits, bread and fizzy drinks. All these things are highly addictive and they can lead to all sorts of physical, mental and even spiritual malady. Then there’s the pittance they pay to their suppliers. And of course the huge amount of waste.
Is it acceptable to give them ANY money at all? Especially when there’s more food than you could ever eat being thrown away as I write this!
Hey Danny,
Great article, I didnt even think about how I buy food until I saw your videos all the way back to the love police days. I might make a video showing my firends outside of the UK how bad supermarkets like co op and tesco are, There is nearly zero real food its all risps, chocolate, cakes, alcohol, biscuits, bread and fizzy drinks. I didnt even considor how bad the meat production was until I started wathcing alt media. Maybe its all down to education. Educating people what food is, And where it comes from let people draw there own conclusions. GREAT ARTICLE

Yes I made a good amount (by my standards) back 2012. When Mining was a thing you could do at home, I had to cash out as I dont have a job . Still using that money now.I was in bitcoin pre £30 a BTC days. I used to use it on silk road. So the FBI stole $1500 of me, Dread to think what that is worht now. Now I have a coinbase account with $80 of bitcoin. I have $150 in a lending platform (scam). I really want to start trading cryptos. I need two forms of ID to do this I only have a passport. Thats my concern for crypto is its not anonymous anymore or as anonymous. So I would like to hodl some monero coin. Grab some Bitcoin cash, ETH. I am so excited about bitcoin was all in 2013. Everyone still laughs at me.
Bitcoin for me is a great opperuntiy to regain our fredom and spending power.
Thanks so much for being so kind to me

Hi Danny, I've joined Steemit after talking to you in person recently.
I am concerned about unnecessary packaging (and clothing!) waste.
For example, a convenient pot of pre-prepared fruit can be sold in non-recyclable plastic whereas an actual melon or orange is inherently biodegradable!! Peace and Love.

Hi Danny, very thoughtful post, I like to use supermarkets as little as possible which isnt tough for me as i accidentally fast. I get too busy at work (as Im self employed) to eat then just got used to it! Love the vegan work you are doing. Im vegan as of 5 years now and have never looked back! My youngest daughter cannot see for the life of her why people would ever eat an animal. She doesnt view it as food. Thanks again mate, love from here!

Full upvote for you just for being vegan! My 11 year old son went vegan when he was 9 and I followed him. Going vegan is one of the best things we can do to help ourselves the animals and the planet

Hi Danny,
I’ve come over to SteemIt after watching your latest videos on YouTube and am really liking what steem seems to be.
This is a thought provoking post. On the one hand I feel like I’d want to get something in return for working to produce food for others but on the other hand if I’d produced an abnunmdance of food, enough for me and left enough over for others, why would I need anything in return for it.
I guess it’s my capitalist conditioning kicking it.
Thanks for posting this and thans for pointing me in the direction of steemit.com :)

Yeh it's such a shame that so much food is wasted. Especially meat and dairy, essentially meaning that those animals went through all that suffering for absolutely nothing. However to counter your point, if people stopped buying food then the means of food production would grind to a halt. What incentive would farmers have to produce food? or for shops and supermarkets to buy it in. I think a more realistic approach is for everyone to start producing at least some of their own food. I've only got a small garden but still managed to grow quite a lot last year.

Christmas is the epitome of gluttony too. I practice intermittent fasting, just 2 meals a day. I know its not the answer to all the Worlds problems but at least I am not taking more than I need, and the long rest between meals is a great way of detoxing the body inbetween.

Yes you do. But it’s all an investment. I have invested 40 hours or so in this platform and it’s now really paying off.

the problem seems to be with the idea of ownership.
"consumers" are (normally) not allowed to eat the food from a store unless they pay for it, transferring ownership from the store to the "consumer".
the question then becomes: where did the chain of ownership begin?
