Announcing: #TyrannyTuesday, #WordWednesday and #FreedomFriday.

in anarchy •  7 years ago

I've been thinking of trying to do this for quite a long time now and well, there is no time like the present.

Honestly, the biggest reason that I haven't started doing this is just that I have never been too confident about the amount of content that I could produce related to these topics on a weekly basis. I'm still not. The thing is, there is no law that says I have to accomplish every topic every single week, but I think I'm going to give it a try.

Tryanny Tuesday and Freedom Friday really need no further introduction or explanation, but I would like to take a moment to talk a little bit about Word Wednesday.

Words are very powerful.

That power is greatly reduced when words are misunderstood or misused. My subject of interest is voluntaryist principles. We can't have a productive conversation about that if we don't even agree with the definition of the words we are using. It is true that words do generally have a pretty solid definition, but we can define words differently. We just have to at least agree on that definition in the context of our conversation.

With this in mind, I think that I will use Word Wednesday to compare two words that are related to a concept and are often misused or misunderstood in our general use. I think it will be rather interesting and unexpected.

I think this is a great idea ! When you share this plan with us, it will keep you motivated to actually do your best to create content. I am very glad that we will be seeing more of you. To be honest TyrannyTuesday excites me the most. I really am wondering what it will be like ! Looking forward to your posts.

Thank you. Its time for me to really try my best at this and I have had this particular thought for quite a while now. I hope it will be fun, especially if I can find a good groove.

Good ! I think it is essential to challenge ourselves, in order to succeed in an area ! I personally made a challenge for myself and it certainly helped me with the motivation I needed.

I'm a big fan of these ideas, I think that they will spark a lot of community engagement. Defining different related terms will be interesting, I'm interested to see if how I define the terms will be similar to how you do! Thanks for the update.

Awesome. Engagement is everything. We can talk through things. We don't need to agree, we just need to respectfully discuss and Steemit is particularly useful for that.

Sounds great, can't wait to get started! I'm almost finished up with my passive income series, only one or two days left - so will be branching out a bit and reading these posts seems perfect.

I'm a fan of these ideas, especially the #WordWednesday one. Far too often I witness conversations quickly devolve due to an assumption of what has been said. Defining one's terms at the onset definitely increases the ability for one to gain understanding of another.

Absolutely. Though, sometimes people are just too hard headed to converse with even when we try to define words. The worst is capitalism. Some folks just can't show all the places on the doll where "Crapitalism" hurt them. They won't see that almost every time, they are actually talking about Corporatism.

Definitely. Capitalism is one of those words that I find myself avoiding, if possible, in certain conversations because of what you described. It has has been tainted like anarchy has, where the overwhelming majority of people have swallowed hook, line, and sinker that almost the exact opposite definition is accurate. I find that in such conversations sometimes it can be easier to come to an understanding about the ideas of capitalism (like voluntary interactions, private ownership, and such), to which most folks are likely to agree with, and then later inform them that they're actually championing capitalism.

Considering capitalism was originally a slur word used to describe mercantilism which is not an example of a free market, I tend to avoid it also.

In truth very few of us have ever been exposed to an actual free market so people's view on this is skewed by that perspective. I usually try to point out the collusion between corporations and the state and how that raises the barrier to entry into the market place and makes it impossible for most individuals to compete.

I am generally pretty successful unless I'm talking to a die hard commie.

Thanks for the resteem. I really appreciate that. Hopefully, I'll keep making it worthy!

No problem. Like i said, i dig the ideas and i would like to see them spread. Looking forward to participating on those days, too.

I like them all, but I really love the #WordWednesday idea. Should make for very interesting conversation.

That seems to be garnering the most interest, to my surprise.

Awesome! Looking forward to the series.

Keep up the good work :)

I like this idea. Setting these goals will give you some motivation to post. It helps to have a plan to follow.

The words wednesday will be great. We have to agree about definitions or we just talk in circles.

The other two could be great too, especially if you are doing what I think. Expose tyranny and highlight examples of freedom in action.

Also, since you have your ongoing docs project it would be cool if you could update use on changes made to the different sections. I think it would anyway, I'm a nerd.

Thanks for the post.

Keep Steeming!

I think we are on the same frequency here.
