Last night I stumbled upon this brilliant post from @erinn, regarding Brehon law, and Ireland's long history of peaceful anarchic, stateless governance.

It's a topic I've found fascinating for years now, and am determined to learn much more about.

In the spirit of this excitement, and of @erinn's post, I wanted to share a traditional Irish song I've recently learned, about the illegality of moonshine in Ireland.

NOTE: In the video I mentioned the "Irish alcohol prohibition." This was somewhat of a misnomer, as there was never a blanket prohibition on all alcohol in Ireland as there was in the US. This song is about those types of booze against which the state did act, namely moonshine or "poteen."
