Anarchy, Is the lack of ruling class and no gods or masters. Lots of people seem to equate anarchy thanks to the media and lack of knowledge as the absence of order. The mass media and its coverage is one of the reasons that people will continue to think that anarchy means chaos and disorder. The biggest issue facing anarchy is the perceived image and that is the purpose of this writing.
Anarchy is the epitome of love, kindness, charity, empathy, and compassion. It is all these things because they are all done voluntarily. The best things in life are done voluntarily. When one is coerced into obedience by the threat of violent punishment, jail or other repercussions all virtue dissipates and the transaction degenerates into that of a common thief and his victim aka the government. To live one’s life and interact with others based on force and coercion is to be empty and spiritually alone.
All things we value in our lives arise from voluntary associations and dissociations. These include who we choose to date, where we choose to live, what we choose to eat, what we choose to wear, what profession we choose to study, what we choose to learn, what time we choose wake in the morning and sleep at night. The extent that we are able to decide how to lead our lives is the extent to which true freedom and happiness exists in each of us.
Just as we do not need religion to have morals nor do we need government. The main entity of anarchy is empathy. It is the key component of anarchy. Empathy is seen as a glue that helps society stay together and not degenerate into a war of all-against-all; and empathy is seen as being the revolutionary tool that aids in revolutionary organizing.
Anarchists long for a government-less society where people have considerable amounts of freedom. However, this is the end result of a social process based on mutual aid, love, compassion and respect. As Nicolas Walter put it in his 1969 essay About Anarchism, “Anarchism is an ideal type which demands at the same time total freedom and total equality”
