Anomie vs. Anarchy And the Real Source of Chaos in Society

"A lawless society will never work!" Cries the statist.

Of course the anarchist knows this is a complete failure to understand basic words. Anarch means "without ruler." The term I think most people are looking for when they try to describe lawlessness or a lack of a standards they believe would exist in anarchy is actually anomie. It's very difficult to imagine how anomie would even work.

Most people want some kind of law and system of restitution. It's been a part of every society whether a government existed or not. So much so that I think it would be pretty hard to get rid of even if you wanted to... In the absence of the state, who is going to stop people from making laws that they want?

This gets to the root reason why statism is chaos and total failure... Because the King's Law always tries to supersede and compete with the common or peoples' law.

In many ways what the political class always try to do is replace things like tort with regulation, replace restitution to the victims with fines and penalties.

Wouldn't want any of that sweet, sweet gravy actually going to the victim. Nope! Not when there's fat greedy bureaucracy that could take it! The state seems to say, "Screw the victim! Screw the (peoples') law! The sociopathic political class will do whatever it wants! And anyone who tries to stop us will be jailed or killed."

What does that sound like? That sounds a lot more like the what most people are indoctrinated to believe anarchy means. As is quite common with statists and statism, there is what psychologists call projection. Statists project their own disruptive behavior into peoples' lives as the chaos they insist will overrun everything in a stateless society. What they fail to realize, nor will they ever acknowledge if they do; We already have the destruction of civilization, the violent warlords that bring it, and the roving gangs and bandits to waylay every innocent travler. It's called the state!

That is the reality we live in. There is no "order" in what the state does, other than a bunch of greedy warlords trying to control a turf and do whatever they want. But with respect to the people, particularly victimless "crime" and the total regulation of every inch of society and peoples' private lives? They're not "ordering" your life, they're interfering with it. It's pure chaos.

Anarchists want to stop this chaos and allow the only legitimate process of law and order that has ever existed to resume -- The self-organization and self-order of people and their communities.

It is impossible to have lasting law and order under the constant, violent chaos of the state.
