Design philosophy

Writer Journal's design philosophy is simplicity, it is designed in such a way that both desktop users and mobile users would find it familiar and super easy to use.

We used some already-familiar components and design patterns to maximize productivity, allowing writers to organize their works in their accustomed way.

The most fascinating part is its diverse analyzing components, ranging from general text analysis to word frequency charting, info extracting, and real-time text analyzing. Empowering  writers to achieve well-written and SEO-friendly articles in a short period of time.

The editor

Writer Journal has ultra-modern text editor interface which is composed on the foundation of simplicity.

All the panels in the editor page is completely hideable so that one can entirely focus on writing the actual content free from unnecessary distraction.

Rich text formatting

Writer Journal introduces rich text formatting tool panel, which is accessible at the very bottom in the editor page. All the formatting tools are completely hideable and orderable.

Writer Journal supports most rich text formatting and character styling, styles like bold and italic or both, underline and strikethrough.

Quote button makes the whole line of your text a quote.

Real-time analyzers

Apart from having most features of modern rich-text-editor, we introduced a new innovative concept, real-time analyzers, there are currently 20 critical real-time analyzers, helping writer achieve well-written and high quality content, ranging from analyzing basic information like character, word, sentence to more advanced information like lexical density and lexical diversity, which are essential measurements for any high quality articles.

A good written English text usually have 56% or above lexical density than spoken text.

Organize and order

Writer Journal organizes documents not only by traditional folder-and-file system but also by modern tagging system. (Tagging is mostly favoured by note taking users.)

One can quickly search and find their document either by searching for keyword or by selecting tag associated with the document file.

Growth charts

Writer Journal keeps track of your progress in every document and folder, recording basic information like character, word, sentence and paragraph counts, and more advanced information like average sentence length, lexical density and lexical diversity, charting your progress to easy-to-navigate graph, helping writer view their progress and regain strength to finish their articles and projects.

Version history

Never be afraid of rewrites. Every time Writer Journal saves one of your documents, it automatically makes a copy of that document so that you'll be able to return to the earlier version whenever you want.

Real-time Markdown syntax parser

With the real-time Markdown parsing engine enabled, you can use most major Markdown syntax in real-time to format your text. Write your document in fullscreen mode with formatting rules at your fingertips!!

The trash bin

Desktop users are quite familiar with the trash bin feature, that when a file is deleted, it will be moved to a trash bin, and is completely recoverable until removed from it.

Writer Journal also adopted this feature with additional capabilities that documents get automatically deleted when the user-set trash bin size exceeded.

Protective Auto saving

Have you ever felt frustrated to find out that none of your editing was saved when your device shuts down due to a low battery percentage. With Protective auto-saving option enabled, Writer Journal will periodically save your editing while you are still pondering about what to write next. Meaning you never have to worry about when you last hit “Save” button.

Master lock

For those who want to protect their secret documents from being viewed or accessed by the unwanted, there is a feature called master lock, that helps protect your document or folder by 4 digits pin code. Master lock is required every launch with accessing of locked document.

Data backup

Writer Journal introduces 2 types of data backup and restore mechanism, manual and automatic, one can very easily backup their entire data either manually or automatically by setting up an auto backup configuration.

Share text

Writer Journal is capable of sharing any document either as plain text or as markdown text. (Markdown formatting is one of the fastest growing text formatting standard. Most editors starting to natively support it.). Or you can even share your document as a universal document file.

Export document

Writer Journal currently supports converting your work to 6 different file types, namely txt, HTML, markdown, docx, PDF, and Writer Journal compatible format. (Writer Journal self declared file types, namely wjdoc or wjfolder)

Single document export

You can very easily export your single document to the above mentioned file types, plus wjdoc type which is a Writer Journal compatible document file format.

Merge export

With merge export feature, which is introduced in Writer Journal 2.30, you can easily merge all of your documents stored in a single folder, and export them as a single document file, Writer Journal encourages any book writer to organize their chapters or scenes in a single folder, and use merge export feature to easily export the entire book as a single document file.

Writer Journal supports exporting  your document as wjdoc file and exporting your folder as wjfolder file which are completely compatible with the app so that you can port them in and out anytime you want.
