On Friday, MWC Lead Dev Chris Gilliard wrote perhaps his most valuable article yet, of the information asymmetry of what the Bitcoin community KNOWS about MimbleWimble, THINKS IT KNOWS, and ACTUALLY KNOWS.
In a nutshell, few in the entire crypto community (aside from a small group of developers and advanced altcoin investors) have any idea what MimbleWimble is. Fewer still understand what Chris does - that it WILL replace today’s archaic blockchain technology, and MUST be incorporated into Bitcoin (when fully tested) if BTC wants to become the scalable, private, fungible asset it needs to be to become a multi-trillion dollar, ubiquitous global asset.
Today, he highlights how shallow the Bitcoin community’s knowledge base is regarding this game-changing technology – that in my view, highlights as much the community’s FEAR of the hard fork that will be required to implement it, as a lack of basic MimbleWimble knowledge.
In a video clip of an interview of well-known Bitcoin personalities, criticisms are made of MimbleWimble that suggest it is not “auditable,” simply because it is so private. Chris assures us it is, as it uses the exact cryptography as Bitcoin itself – while refuting the notion that other “privacy coins” have such advantages, which they don’t. In a nutshell, MimbleWimble makes ALL other privacy coin technology obsolete – from Monero, to ZCash, and all others.

As a Bitcoin holder, you must be vigilant to understand that because the scaling debate against big blockers was won, and SegWit implemented, it does not mean BTC is necessarily ready to be a multi-trillion global asset class. It may well be, but I assure you, it is not yet perfect. Scaling is far from resolved; and privacy has not yet been addressed – and for all intents and purposes, is not possible with current blockchain technology; which by proxy, reduces its fungibility.
As an altcoin investor, one should do their homework on MimbleWimble, given the enormous upside potential the “MimbleWimbleTrinity” – of Grin, Beam, and soon-to-be-launched MWC holds; while for Bitcoin holders, you simply need to register for the FREE MWC airdrop before the July 19th snapshot date!
