This evening, I discovered that Angelique Kidjo, pop star from Benin, has just dropped a new single that is a cover of the Talking Head's "Born Under Punches." Her upcoming record is a re-imagining of the famous post-punk outfit's album "Remain In Light" (1980).
There is such raw talent in her voice, and the arranging of this cover is almost too good. In fact, it is exactly what I would hope a modern version of this song would sound like, with the African percussion, transcription of the guitar, bass, and synthesizer parts, and vocals.
