The Ministry of Angels II

We need to understand that if the devil can send fallen angels on assignments and they run errands, children of God should be able to get angels to run errands for them. I want to briefly show you the different dimensions and places of how angels are called. Angels most often carry errands on behalf of the Father and the Son more than they stand in to represent the Holy Spirit. Many times they are described as God Himself showing up in form of an angel. Several times in the Bible we read about an angel showing up but when you look at the activities and functions of the angel, you see God Himself at work. We have cases when the Lord Jesus appeared to men as an angel, but we hardly ever have the Holy Spirit appear in the form of an angel. There are several situations in the Scripture where the word “angel” is used and we need to understand who exactly is being referred to in each case:

  1. In Genesis 21:17, the person manifested in the form of an angel was the Almighty Himself, but He was called the angel of God.

  2. In Genesis 16:7 He was called the angel of the Lord, and was repeated in Exodus 14 when the children of Israel were leaving Egypt; he was commonly referred to as the presence of the Lord. That is, God Almighty went with them but in the appearance of an angel.

  3. In Exodus 3:2, an angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in a flame of fire in a bush. It is clear that it was God Himself that appeared here because an angel could not have had the capability of the words spoken in the passage. He introduced Himself, asked Moses to remove his shoes etc.

  4. In Genesis 24:7 he was referred to as His angel.

  5. In Genesis 48:16 he was called the Angel.

  6. In Exodus 23:23 he was called My Angel

  7. In Isaiah 63:9 he was called the angel of His presence.

  8. In Matt. 1:20 he was again referred to as the angel of the Lord but there is a difference this time. In the encounter of Mary, she was actually speaking to an angel. It was not the Lord being referred to as an angel.

So you need to be careful when you read the scriptures and come across “the angel of the Lord” or “the angel of God”. It could either refer to an angel or God Himself. How you differentiate them is by the activity or the language used. It is clear from the above scriptures that angels can perform a variety of activities. Do not limit them by the kind of commands you give for they have been empowered to do as you say.

PRAYER/ACTION

  • Pray that God will send angels on assignment for you today.

  • Pray that in the field of battle, your angel will show up for you.

  • Pray to receive the backing of angels in any battle you fight.

PROPHETIC PRAYER:
As the Lord lives, the lot of the wicked shall not be my portion in 2020, in the powerful name of Jesus.
