The iguana

The iguana is a reptile native to the tropics that many people like because of how exotic it is and that curious air that it gives off. We could say that the iguana belongs to the most interesting species of scaly reptiles in the world. The origins of this species date back to 1768 when the Austrian naturalist Josephus Nicolaus Laurenti described it in his book, being impressed by the beauty of the animal and, at that time, by the strangeness of its form.

If we look at the general characteristics we should see that this reptile typical of the tropics has a size ranging from 14 cm to 1.5 or 1.8 meters long. In the case of the green iguana (one of the most popular) its can reach up to 15 kg. They are usually quiet animals and they await the months of captivity very well.

In general, the iguana is a fairly quiet animal although in attack position it could be dangerous. They like the tall trees where they are most visible because it is an excellent climber species with a speed that allows them to move with ease between the plants.
