A young coyote, on the prowl for a meal and wearing a nasty injury on its hind leg. You have to be tough to make it in the wild kingdom, an injury like this can mean death to the wild animal if the infection spreads and/or it hinders movement and the ability to hunt. This photo was took yesterday at Rocky mountain national park, it was -3 fahrenheit, a very cold morning to say the least. An exposed wound like this is highly susceptible to frost bite, hope this little guy here makes it.
