Save the Sumatran Elephant

The threat of extinction of Sumatran elephants (elephas maximus sumatranus) in Aceh should be the concern of many, of course this problem needs the support of local government / district, law enforcement officers and the role of society as one of the victims of elephant conflict between humans.

Increased Sumatran elephant deaths during the year 2017 as many as 12 elephants died due to poison, this happens because the habitat they occupy will be used for industrial land or the opening of new plantation land. In addition to poison and changes in forest function, widespread hunting and elephant ivory trade became a major factor in the decline of Sumatran elephant populations in the westernmost province of Sumatra island.

The International Organization for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has assigned Sumatran elephants to the red list (critical status).
Efforts to overcome the extinction of elephants should continue to be done and campaigned together, either by making CRU (Conservation Response Unit) in the area susceptible to elephant conflict between humans. Some of the elephant's habitat is in production forests, whereas production forests are limited and highly vulnerable to functionalization by local governments and districts, even seemingly not paying attention to the conservation of elephants as these large mammals.

Therefore, preventive action must be done to preserve the forest life. Legally, we have many rules to protect and save elephants and other endangered species. Even the MUI (Indonesian Council of Ulama) has issued a fatwa on the preservation of endangered species. That animals and ecosystems are created by God is not to be destroyed and destroyed. Conservation issues are not just matters of state life, sin and reward.
