hewan-dilindungi-di-indonesia_harimau-sumatra.jpgthe steemians must have heard of animals called Sumatran tigers.

On this occasion I will discuss a little what I know about the Sumatran tiger.

The Sumatran tiger in Latin, also called Panthera Tigris Sumatrae, is one of six tiger sub-species that still survive today and are included in the classification of critically endangered animals.

Sumatran tigers face two types of threats to survive, they lose habitat because of high illegal logging and are threatened by illegal trade where parts of their bodies are traded at high prices on the black market for traditional medicines, jewelry, amulets, and decorations. Most tiger parts are sold in art shops, precious stone sellers, and traditional medicine sellers.

Today's trade in tiger parts in Indonesia is increasingly alarming. Findings about the tiger trade
From the city visited by wildlife lovers in 2008, more than 5 cities found a trade of about 50% of tiger parts. The tiger body parts that are traded include whole skin, mustache, claws, or opsets.

Sumatran tiger habitat is only found on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. These big cats are able to live anywhere, from lowland forests to mountain forests, and live in many unprotected places.

They have a very sharp sense of hearing and sight, which makes it a very efficient hunter, so the Sumatran Tiger can hunt at night, stalk their prey patiently before attacking from behind or side. They eat anything that can be caught, generally pigs and deer, and sometimes birds.

Sumatran tigers can breed at any time. The pregnancy period is around 103 days. Usually a tigress gives birth to 2 or 3 tigers at a time, and at most 6 tails.

The tiger cub first leaves the nest at the age of 2 weeks, and learns to hunt at the age of 6 months. They can hunt alone at the age of 18 months, and at the age of 2 years the cub can stand alone. Sumatran tigers can live for 15 years in the wild, and 20 years in captivity.

hopefully with a little information from me we can maintain and protect the Sumatran tiger habitat which is currently on the verge of extinction. so that our children can know which animal is nicknamed the king of the forest

save the Sumatran tiger
