This is Sebastian, a British Shorthair and one of my roommates while I'm on holidays. He's a sweetie. Because of their round face and thick coat, British Shorthairs are often known as the "teddy bear" cat. Their fur is really dense and short so it stands on end and appears very plush.
They have a broad, deep chest and short legs. That, with the round head and plushness gives an overall impression of being stocky and solid.
British Shorthairs come in almost any colour combination but silver and blue are the most common. Their eyes are round and set far apart in colours of blue, green, orange, and copper. Ears are rounded and also wide set. Sebastian has the colouring of a Himalayan but without the blue eyes.
These cats are known for being friendly, happy, healthy and low energy. If you even look at Sebastian, he purrs.
British Shorthairs were one of Britain's first pedigreed cats and appeared in England's first official cat shows.
