Screw Horn Goat - Markhor - National Animal of Pakistan
Screw Horn Goat is also known as Markhor and very interesting fact that it's the national animal of Pakistan. They are large species of wild goats that are found in northern areas of Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir,Southern Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, southern Uzbekistan,Afghanistan and in the Himalayas.
The species were classified as Endangered by the IUCN but in 2015 it was downgraded to Near Threatened since their numbers increased about 20% for the last decade.
Markhor stand 65 to 115 centimetres at the shoulder, 132 to 186 centimetres in length and weigh from 32 to 110 kilograms. Males have longer hair on the chin, throat, chest and shanks whereas the Females are redder in colour, with shorter hair, a short black beard and are maneless.
