MORE BLOODS ON OUR HANDS

An indian spiritual leader named Gandhi once said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
I first need to apologise for English is not my first language so bare with me guys 😃
Anyways today i want to talk about animal cruelty. I know to some this is a difficult subject to swallow but the fact is we will always be seen as monsters by this helpless animals we kill and consume. First Abloodhand_56f1n34c.jpgnimals are not ours tbloodhand_56f1n34c.jpgo use for food, clothing, entertainment, experimentation, or any other reason.my name is rebecca and I am a curious girl residing in west africa. For a young girl speaking about this topic is considered taboo by most people in my area. everyday i wake and think about this and then ask myself " why do we really treat some animals like dogs with love but at the other hand we butcher the cows and goats for food consumption or clothing. These animals are living things with families and just because they cannot communicate intelligently we get to harm them. If the dog wasnt loyal to his master will the same fate have befallen him? In my search for answers i stumble upon some knowledge i woundnt have know cos animal cruelty was never taught in school when i was younger and even now. I got to realize that by switching to a plant-base diet, human societies will be able to alleviate the needless suffering and deaths of countless animals, the irreparable damage done onto the earth like air and water pollution, the erosion of lands, waste of precious energy, and deforestation. Raising and eating meat leaves behind an environmental toll that generations to come will be forced to pay. I confess i have eaten meat too but these days i tend to move towards becoming a vegetarian because i have also learnt that vegetarians spares the lives of a certain number of animals each time he or she chooses to forgo meat for vegetables, fruits, grains, legumes and nuts. These animals, of course, are not necessarily ones who continue to live because a vegetarian chose not to eat them. The way a vegetarian saves animals is by reducing the demand for meat and causing fewer animals to be born into a harsh life owned by the meat industry, where callousness abounds and mercy is scant.i have a lot to talk about regarding this topic so i will continue from where i left off in my next post. I am also new to steemit and by the look of things i think i have just found a second home with this community of individuals from around the world whom i finally get to interact with
