It has been a few weeks since I had spotted the native frog hanging around my fish pond.. I had concluded it had either been eaten or had migrated away, but alas I went out to the pond yesterday, and there Kek was.. watching me.
I wonder if the cold temperatures had made the frog burry itself in the dirt to survive or whatever they do to overwinter themselves through the freezing temps.
The pond itself is littered with fallen foliage this fall and will create lots of debris in the water. I wonder what kind of effect that fallen debris will have on the fish and the chemistry of the water..
And if any of the fish will survive the winter.. good question.
It would be very neat to spot this frog come next spring.. and be able to observe the cycle of life with that critter doing its thing in my pond. Can’t wait.
Stay safe everyone!
