Things That Made Me Smile This Week

in animalphotography •  7 years ago

I have three friends battling suicidal thoughts at the moment, had a pretty rough week myself. I am on the lookout for anything and everything that may cause unscheduled smiling. If you have a picture or story to tell to make me smile, put it in the comments and I will surely tip and / or upvote all gestures of good will! These are little unexpected sources of joy I encountered this week:

We are on our milk run when I spot this guy in the tree. I SUCK at wildlife photos, they always run off or I am shaking so bad they are fuzzy or I have the wrong settings... I just rarely get "the shot." My husband stops the car and tells me to take some pictures, assuring me "He won't fly away." I don't know how he knew, but the eagle sat right there while I got closer and closer and zoomed in and got this pic:

and this one

and several more!

Then there was this beautiful piece of a rainbow on a dreary day:

Then the princess grand-daughters came to visit. They have LONG hair. Well, one HAD long hair. We are not sure who actually ran the scissors... I suspect a re-enactment of a "Rapunzel" scene may have been going on... but from "to her butt" to high and tight, just in one spot lol!

I did attempt an "#ophumanangels" this week. When I uploaded my picture I realized this may send a mixed message. Does the Universe only love people who don't put trash in toilets?

OK, I think I have the REAL message here: No calling humans "trash" and shitting on them because the Universe loves them. All of them, even me and you!!!

Wishing you love, laughter and many smiles today!

I don't want a tip - I just want to indulge in the fun of bombarding you with ridiculousness because you gave the invitation (lol).

Boat is on step. Their faces are plastered this way :)

LOL! That got a full out guffaw out of me, easily worth a simple tip! so no arguing lol!

Well thank you for that. I can sense you will win me at an argument. I'll check out tipu and pay it forward. :)

Thank you for taking time to put such a grin on my face this morning. HUGS!!!

Hugs to you as well. This was a very cheerful exchange and a wonderful idea! :)

Thanks for the smile! That's a great capture of the bald eagle up top.

Thank you! I was pretty pleased. Always wish for better, but that was not bad. No tripod, hand held that far zoomed, so it is pretty clear I think.

Very clear for zoom and no tripod. As photographers, I think it's that "wish for better" that drives us! The elusive "perfect" photograph. This one is darn fine.

When the world gets heavy I push myself outside with my two sidekicks. They find joy in the smallest of things and have a way of lightening even the heaviest of hearts.

They look like a great comedy team! I sometimes think dyslexics have it right... dogs really are God, they do "unconditional love" like only God can... :)

I've never heard that before but I have to agree wholeheartedly. I am not embarrassed to admit that these two are my best friends. I fall into dark places very easily and these two are very good at sensing and nudging me into a different space. They have higher powers forsure!

Hope you feel better soon.

I felt similar yesterday and wrote this:

I had some responses that were really nice.

Thank you so much, that is an awesome post.

Taking pictures of any god-damned,squirrelly animal is hard. The eagle is beautiful! I like it when he said "My other profile is much more noble," then turned to the other side. Well done, Dude.

I appreciated his professionalism as a model! I had a moose 20 feet from me at a hot spring once. He was working it! A little this side, how about a profile shot. Like my rack? I took probably 30 pictures while he just offered up pose after pose. I had the camera zoomed all the way in, and it was cold, and I stood there shivering taking those pics... they were so blurry you could hardly tell it was an animal. FAIL! I had not tripod for this either, I was afraid they might be just blur too, but at least it was not cold out!

Well these pictures turned out great. I love the BBC nature shows. And the "making of" afterward. I'm usually doing something while I watch them, so I can "watch" them numerous times.
Oh, and sorry about the moose. :-))

magnesium is pretty great if you are not taking it already

Thanks, I do take it. We are little electro-magnetic beings, our neurons read electro-chemical signals to make this body run. I realized long ago that not having the right minerals on board to generate the proper signals is a losing proposition.

I have been taking DHEA for a while and that helps my mood.

I am not really having a "mood" issue, life handed me a crap sandwich. I am chewing my way through. Thanks, though, you never know who may read what you say and it is just what they needed.

Did your truck just get stuck in the ditch or was it damaged also?

Truck was fine, it just slid off the edge. After getting it unstuck, my husband went over to look over the bank and found the patch of ice that got me, almost slid into the creek himself!

What possesses little girls with long hair to clip it too short to repair the damage? I had a son who decided to cut his hair too. Thank goodness it grows back in. You did an excellent job on the eagle shots! Almost looks like he posed for you!

There are two suspects in this crime... The twins play "princess" ALL the time and Rapunzel is among the princesses they "are." To get that close and not have a mirror... I think it was a re-enactment of the evil step-mother scene, honestly. LOL! I was QUITE impressed with how well the hair stylist hid it, really. I pushed the hair off to one side to make it easier to see.

Hopefully, they have learned a lesson from this and won't try to cut hair again, or at least not until they are qualified to do so! LOL
