The ground Squirrels are already awake again and i am going to visit them soon. I am so happy for this and really looking forward to the next weeks where i am definitely going to visit them for some photography. A friend of mine already visited them last week and took some amazing pictures. These pictures are from my trips in august last year. I am also curious how my new camera will perform with this kind of photography. The Autofocus of the camera is much faster so i think i can catch a little bit more action shots, for example two ground squirrels fighting for a piece of carrot or wheat.

In summer when it's hot the ground squirrels prefer carrots over wheat because of the beter water content. Depending on the weather and condition they prefer one kind of food over the other. We buy mainly unprocessed wheat and carrots for them. As the ground squirrels are very interested in new things around them they are perfect photo models as long as they are used to you as photographer. I am also pretty curious how my new faster D500 Camera performes compared to the older D5100.
