Actually, crows are very intelligent and can be tamed, trained and perform tricks. They also have the ability for deductive reasoning. Parrots are beautiful and can be taught to mimic the human words, but they lack the reasoning ability of ravens and crows.
The Corvid family of birds (crows and ravens) have the largest brain of any of the birds.

I like your crow shelf! And the two colorful silhouettes! Crows are so observant. I enjoy seeing them, but not quite so much right after I've planted my garden. I've had them pull out my little corn plants, lol. A pair of crows made a nest in my neighbors huge American Elm a couple years ago. That was the loudest family of birds I have ever heard, especially when the young ones were supposed to learn to find food on their own. It was a fun summer watching them -- and hearing them, too! Enjoy all your crows! :D

They seldom come into my yard, I suspect the surrounding trees and underbrush are too dense for them to feel safe, but very noisy flocks will occasionally stop along the river banks. There are lots of them in town...must be easier food sources! The geese are the noisy ones at my house. I swear, they must never all sleep at the same time!

Yeah, those were the days, huh? Only 11 months ago!
That old British Counting rhyme has been traced back to a written version in the mid 1700's, but I would suspect it is probably older than that. There are crows around, but they rarely come down into the woods, so I do see them more often when I'm in town than I do in my yard. I like Ravens best, but have to go north to see them.
