ANGORA GOAT PHOTOGRAPHY

in animalphotography •  7 years ago

I absolutely love the look of certain animals.

When we were picking up our Jacob's Sheep we also encountered some Angora Goats. Trust me, we would have liked to take the whole herd home... but we didn't. Anyway, we've been reading about and researching a lot of different sheep and goats, and some of the breeds that we see photos of online and in books are amazing. However, since I only like to show my own photos here in my posts, I have not shared photos of some of these breeds... until now!

ANGORA GOATS

Angora Goats are named after Ankara, Turkey and are commonly raised for their fleece, known as mohair. Much like people shearing sheep, these goats get "hair cuts," as many as two per year. Personally, I love the look of the coats and of the horns. What d you think?

A NICE SIZED HERD

In total, the people had twenty one. Seventeen of them were sale, and they all pretty much looked the same. I think that without different colored collars on them, I would not be able to tell them apart. Here are a few photos with more goats in them.

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Using a purple bead-headed mohair leech I had one of my best days flyfishing from my float tube one February day here in Oregon. It was a deadly fly for rainbow and brook trout. Nobody else on the pond was having luck that day but I had the secret tied to the end of my line. The hair of the angora goat gives the leech pattern an irresistible lifelike movement in the water. Great photos of some very cool looking animals. I want a few acres with a couple of them to run around the property. ;)

Interesting. Actually, we bought a pregnant doe. Will be giving her a haircut soon enough. I could ship you a free gift if you like to tie your own flies! We live close to Cotter, AR which claims to be "Trout Capital USA." A lot of little rainbows in there, but the brookies are built like salmon.

Used to love it when the Salmon ran in from Lake Michigan back in Wisconsin.

Lol

That is a most brilliant idea! I do like to tie my own flies and would love to have some of your angora doe's hair. I will write a post about it! And hopefully catch a fish to show how effective of a pattern it is. If there is enough I will give away a fly or two to our community at @myhuntingfishing. Thank you!

Forgive me, I should have also said I'd gladly make you some flies as well. And I can send you some Steem to pay for the shipping costs.

Those are some really nice fish! I hope you will consider posting a fishing story with the #myhuntingfishing tag!

I think your love for beautiful animals cant be over-emphasised you must be a fashion driven person, i just started a corner on my wall i tagged it "oladayo's fashion corner" you might want to check you will definitely like it

we had angora/mohair goats when I was growing up. The billies can be a bit of a pain during rutting season. They are nearly impossible to keep from the females and climb, force though and otherwise figure out how to get around fences and other barriers. And they often butt you. But, great animals overall.

Cool! This was our first time seeing them up close.

They are great for clearing thistles and brambles from paddocks, and for keeping the grass down in rocky areas where mowing is impractical.

its absolutely funny because this is my first time t see such kind of goats , they seem to look like the mountain goats .

They are beautiful! I wish my husband would let me have some! He's just not a fan of goats. He lets me keep a dairy buck and two does to eat the stuff in the pastures the sheep don't eat and to milk when the cow is dry, but that's about it. Enjoy them!

Good post! Thank you for the content!

Haha you sure enjoy weird animals as you said earlier in your video. These are weirdly nice.

Oh my god..So beautiful..cute...wow amazing..this goats.so fantastic.I life your post.guy.

They look humble creatures :)

i think @papa-pepper it will be a nice addition to your animals, I like the horn😊😊😊🐐🐐🐐

Hi @papa-pepper I love goats too. In the mountains in Norway there were two large herds that we would meet on our walks They are fun, but especially for a kid can be quite impressive and overpowering if they all come in to you The goats ate all the young shoots and shaped the landscape Due to politics they no longer keep goats in those parts and we no longer have the same views We really miss the goats!

I've seem some photos of large herds, but I can't imagine what it would be like in person.

40-50 animals I least I reckon, they are playful and insistent, I remember being chased by a whole flock, they probably just wanted to have fun:) They are really part of an old scenery of mountain farming in Norway: we used to love to go and help out with the milking, feeding the little ones etc. Dream life for a kid.

nice animal photography
it is a very uesfull animal of our country of esia

this is a very strange lamb in my opinion, because in my place there are no sheep like this,
@papa-pepper, what kind of name is it, because of its long and spinning horn shape.

Cool pics! I have had the privilege to travel to 35 countries so far in my lifetime. One place I have been is Turkey! Been to the big cities, Ankara and Istanbul. But the best part is when we travelled into the countryside as I am a country boy. Since we moved to the Philippines I have left many things behind, but i am sure I brought my CDs of digitized 35 mm photos from my many trips. Since joining Steemit I have been looking for them. Sadly no joy!
We visited farms, travelled by boat and long cruises by land.
Got to see these goats. Steem Acres is the place to be!

Those horns are pretty devilish looking. Lol the hair cuts help to make them not so menacing looking. I've always wanted to get some goats. Do you milk them or just harvest the coats?

images (2).jpeg@papa-pepper when do you intend visiting Africa....you need to see the Hausa rams...they are fierce looking....

images (5).jpeg

And do you know there is such a sport here in Nigeria...rams fight....where two rams begin to fight and slug it out till one gives up.
images (4).jpeg

Thanks for your post.

Wow! I can imagine what that would be like!

I feel you should plan it...

Sorry for late response have been off Internet coverage for a while.

Your photography is so beautiful,
White goats are very beautiful, grouped more like, the goats are beautiful, I love the look of coats and horns like you,

Hm! Nice post, I like!!!!

Those are some awesome horns they have!

Yeah they are, for two horned animals....

Are these types of goats friendly? They kinda look like they will charge..lol
I like the horns myself. I find your blogs very interesting @papa-pepper. I am new to Steemit and still trying to wrap my head around it all. My head feels like a sponge

They are pretty friendly, and like many animals, they are more afraid of us.

Congratulations on your sheep. The goats do look very much the same, maybe they can be distinguished by their horns. :D

LOL - As long as we can count.

Wow,goat rearing is good, there are different breeds of goat so many, nice photos of this goat

A subtle difference in the horns maybe.

Above all animal that God created. I observe that this animal is the most calm animal. They always obeyed the command of their owner, and always don't prove saturnine. Thanks @papa-pepper for this pictures shared. I think I should resteem this post

God sure did a great job creating the animals of the world.

Nice photos. It takes more to do researches and you are one those who love genuine contents and I applaud you for that.
I don't know much about goat, i have learnt something new from your post.
Continue with the good job.

Love angora wool! It is so soft and warm. Love the horns on those goats too. Really awesome!

Awwwn , they are cute

Years ago we had an angora goat buck here on the farm. I agree with you... I loved those big horns and the white angora coat. They are definitely photogenic. :-)

Is really a nice breed of goat. I wish I can get that type of breed in my farm. Thanks for sharing dear. Kudos to you. Please upvote me dear.

Brethren? 😂

I love those goats! They are the best looking goats I have seen. Can you milk these as well or are they just for the mohair?

If you ever end up doing something with the goats hair that’s definitely something I’d be interested in. I’ve been trying to switch to more natural fibres with my clothing at home. It’s a topic that’s hot with me right now. Wool is great but I’m interested in some of the more exotic fibres too.

Those are beautiful animals and look just as soft as the sweater I once loved :)

Healthy lamb, hopefully quickly multiply to grow again.
