Turtle Tuesday - Green Sea Turtles, South Sri Lanka

Look at that natural camo!
A turtle's shell pattern is not constant, it varies as the turtle grows and sheds its scutes. As scutes shed, a turtle may slowly develop a new pattern (scutes are the separate square regions on a turtle's shell). The pattern is quite often the veins running beneath the shell, while the color is dependent on species, sunlight exposure, and diet.
