Sri Lanka Red Slender Loris

in animals •  7 years ago

Considering the 160 million -year presence of lorids in south Asia, and with the emergence of modern lorises about 15 may ,it is not surprising that these wonderful animals have evolved into at least tow distinct species in sri lanka, one of them entirely peculiar to the island.

The red slender loris is smaller than the grey Slender Loris and has relatively small ears and a longer mheuzzle. it was named for its reddish colour. The dark markings around the eyes are more circular in shape compared with the ovular or teardrop-shaped markings on the grey slender loris.
