THE UNIQUENESS OF SMALL CRAB SPECIES OF MANGROVE FOREST
A GLIMPSE OF THE HABITAT OF MANGROVE CRAB (SCYLLA SERRATA)
Mangrove crabs or species of crab species that live in the manggove area. This animal is a typical species in the area of mangroves (mangroves) whose habitats are most often found in muddy or sandy areas in mangrove forests. Crabs are able to live in water as well as on land. Crabs are animals that have high levels of protein and fat, and are very valuable economically in aceh. But not all crabs can be consumed.
Habitat and crab ecosystem cycles
The level of crab culture buffer is divided into three phases
- Marriage phase
- Phase lay eggs
- Phase larva or crab phase
The phases of the start laying, the phase of the young crabs to the adult crabs, undergo several levels of development. The level of development include the level of Zoea, Megalopa Level, the level of young crabs and level of adult crabs.
At Tinggkat Zoea takes time over the next 18 days to change skin that becomes megalopa whose body shape is similar to adult crabs. From the magalopa level to the level of young crab takes 11-12 days.
In crab habitats, usually large mangrove crabs will eat small mangrove crabs. The munching time of mangrove crab is irregular, but at night more crabs are looking for a meal than during the day. So the crab fisherman often use the night time. According to the world's veterinary research, that worldwide there are 1000 species of crabs.
