Mr. Google said that the she mantis pratices cannibalistic excercises. After luring the he mantis using it's mesmerizing scent and engages in a courtship dance. The she mantis will grab the he mantis's head and eat it while or after mating. Very ungrateful tsk.
Some speculations says that, in this way the she mantis can nourished its eggs and increase the success and duration of copulation. Atleast he mantis didn't die for nothing.
