yawser!! wow youhavewings I am clueless as to what in the world is going down out there, thanks for the information. I guess if you're homeless you should head to SF. nice weather and it's a whole subculture there. and getting worse all the time!
I wonder how much of the situation is caused by liberal politician policies?
thank you so much!

No, I definitely would not be homeless in SF (the cost of living is so high that they won't be able to dig themselves out enough to rise above it)....I spent a couple hours watching some of the personal stories of the homeless there and it was very heartbreaking - you're looking at the destruction of people's lives and complete mayhem, violence, used drug needles everywhere and so much human feces in the streets that it's become unhealthy and dangerous.
I read also that $40k a year is spent on each homeless person - yeah? Where is it? In programs to help seniors, the handicap, the sick, the drug addicted, the mentally ill, the youth, the families at risk?
I'm not into labels, but yes I see there is something horribly 'wrong' - it is just 'wrong'. We live in a time of 'crisis profiteering' - truth. Much corruption.
This is a 'button' for me - I apologize. My father was a homeless person living in a box when he was killed - saddest story ever.....saddest story ever.
People have stories and I wouldn't wish homelessness on anyone - it would be cheaper to 'help' people get back on their feet. There was actually a study done in the 80's on this - people will rehabilitate themselves if treated with a little dignity and given the opportunity to have a purpose in life. With the baby boomers aging out of the job market, there is going to be an even bigger issue of homelessness (it's one of the biggest growing populations of homelessness) - SS doesn't pay enough to live in most cities around the country and there isn't enough subsidized housing to accommodate.

howdy back youhavewings..oh no need at all to apologize! I lov your passion and compassion and I so agree and have been perplexed by this growing outrage for many years and thinking about solutions.
But I didn't know the number of 40K per homeless person per year. So that is clear corruption and greed like you said. And with so many government programs it becomes a way to bring in tons of money but it doesn't solve the problem so they have to ask for more money!
Man I know politics is necessary but I hate politics.
I'm so sorry about your father, is that something you can shed more light on? what happened that he was homeless and what happened to him?
I don't know how anyone makes it in CA or NY with the insane prices they have! something has to give.
thank you so much for all this important information!

I've thought about writing about it to honor his life...it's just such a sad story. To summarize, he gave up on life. I can't possibly write it all down in a paragraph or two. He was hit by a Mack truck and the only thing he had left to identify him after the other homeless people picked everything off his lifeless body was my handwritten name in his pocket :(
Thank you so much for asking about my father @janton He was loved very much and a special person that like so many people lost hope.
I've also been wanting to write a post on the homeless, too which I will. Heavy stuff though.

oh man youhavewings I'm so sorry that happened. but if you feel like writing about the homeless problem then who better to do that? I have no idea how to fix the issue do you?

True, yes. I think homelessness is connected to many things in our society and system (its broken and corrupt). I think in order to change it, we have to change ourselves first - look at the causes and actually care to change it.
Knowing that 40k a person is spent with nothing to show for it but a growing population of homeless certainly tells you what 'isn't' working, huh?
Anyway, thanks for going down this route with me, I didn't mean for it to turn into a different discussion.
