The markhor /ˈmɑːrkɔːr/ (Capra falconeri; Pashto: مرغومی‎ marǧūmi; Persian/Urdu: مارخور‬), also known as the screw horn goat, is a large species of wild goat that is found in northeastern Afghanistan, northern and central Pakistan, Northern India, southern Tajikistan, southern Uzbekistan and in the Himalayas
Animals are an important part in Pakistan’s ever so beautiful landscapes. Sadly, due to increase in pollution, destruction of habitats and hunting enthusiasts, these animals are are at risk of extinction.
These are some of the many endangered animals in Pakistan.

Broadly, there are divided into two categories: flare-horned markhor (Capra falconeri falconeri) and straight-horned markhor (Capra falconeri megaceros). Flare-horned markhor includes two sub-species: Pir Panjal or Kashmir markhor and Astore markhor, whereas straight-horned markhor also includes two sub-species as well: Kabul markhor and straight-horned or Suleiman markhor. The Chiltan Markhor has been categorised as Chiltan Wild Goat.
