Lure Coursing - Whippets

VIDEO DIDN'T LOAD - PLEASE SEE OTHER POST

Back in a magical time before children (just kidding, love my kids!) we had time to do things like take our fur babies lure coursing. We have two whippets - a brindle named Ciara and a white & black named Poppy.

We didn't train them, or incentivise them to do lure coursing, they just did it. Sight hounds like Whippets and Greyhounds have an innate instinct to chase. In South East Queensland we have a large park allocated to lure coursing. Most Saturdays a course is marked out with a line that is run by a motor bike. A plastic bag is tied to the line. Then the dogs are put into a makeshift release pen, the motorbike starts up & away goes the plastic bag. Our dogs absolutely loved lure coursing. They still chase things from time to time when we're out on the farm. Mostly kangaroos and hares these days, but our dogs are a bit older at 12 & 13 years, so no more lure coursing for them.

We used to have a great time doing this with them though.
