Meet Prince the Eastern grey Kangaroo joey.
Prince was orphaned when his mother was hit by a car, sadly she took the full impact but this little one here survived in her pouch.
When he was rescued he spent a month with another carer until he was handed on to us.
He will be bottle fed for another 6 months and when he's big enough to survive in the wild we will open the gate and let him go.
Generally we like to buddy them up and raise and release in pairs so when the next orphan comes into the system she will be handed to us.
I wish it didn't happen but sadly that's the way life is.
I've introduced him to the other big ones we released last year as they haven't gone far away from home but he's still a little shy
I'm sure they will accept him as part of the mob
It's such a rewarding feeling watching them go into the wild once they are ready.
More photos to come
Aaaaahw!

Gorgeous Joey, such rewarding work caring and then releasing back to the wild. I do the records for our local wildlife group TVWC and a few years ago rented a room from a lady who cared for wee joeys and flying foxes, so I got to have occasional cuddles when permitted. Looking forward to more pics as he grows
