Today we shall dig deep into some features of the ship of the desert commonly known as The Camel. It is an animal with extraordinary features that make it fit to not only survive but also serve the mankind. Its notable features are that unlike other animals it can survive without food and water for many days. With an ability to hold hundreds of kilogram weight, it becomes an excellent conveyance for people. Its physical structure is such that even extreme and severe external conditions barely affect it. In the following paragraphs, I shall discuss more features of it in detail and how it does all this.

Imagine traveling in a desert and strong winds and tornado occur. It is highly probable that the blowing sand would enter your eyes causing trouble in your vision for some time. But this does not happen with the camel. The long eyelashes of camel have an interlocking system. They shut automatically when there is a chance of sand or any kind of particles entering its eyes. Its ears and nose are also protected from sand, in the same way, i.e. long hairs.

Ever wondered why it has a long neck? So that it can easily eat food that is up to 3 meters high from the ground.

The Creator of camel made its feet such that they would not sink in the sand while it is loaded with heavy weight. The feets of camel have thick, leathery pads which spread wide on the ground. The hardness and thickness of its feet is no less than that of an animals' horn. The skin on the feet insulates the camel from the burning sand during the daytime.

Camels can spend up to eight days without both food and water. However, during this period it loses up to a quarter of its body weight. Its ability to store water for so many days is owing to its distinctive features. It drinks about 130 liters of water in just ten minutes. Secondly, its wool does not let water loss. The camel can stop itself from sweating, which is a major cause of water loss, by raising its body temperature to 41 degrees Celcius. Thirdly, they have huge nose mucus and mucous membrane prevents dryness and dehydration. In fact, every cell of a camel is designed in a way to preserve water. The thick skin protects them from harmful effects of both severe hot and cold temperature.

One cannot expect trees, greenery, or fruits growing in deserts, except thorny plants such as cactus are usually found. Quite amazingly, camels can even feed themselves on huge thorns, dry plants, and salt bushes, which are mostly avoided by other animals. It is unbelievable how they manage such sharp thorns and of what material their lips and mouth are made up of, that can bear this kind of hard meal. Their complex four-compartment stomach has to digest, which it does successfully.

Finally, let's talk about the camel hump. All the fats are contained in it. During the time of food and water shortage, the camel extracts required energy from its hump. It is the reason why sometimes they are seen with a floppy hump and bent to one side. Earlier, It was misunderstood to be used for water storage.

After reading the article, Questions you must ask yourself and reflect upon:-

1. Has camel created itself with such an intelligent design and features?
2. Who made the camels of nature to serve the mankind?
3. Who is its Creator?
4. and Finally why has He created me?
