The animations of Terry GilliamsteemCreated with Sketch.

For the last couple of days I have been hard at work with my comic pages. As you will see when I publish page 73 later today I am telling the back story of one of the main supporting characters, Loretta, the large, muscular, bearded transsexual woman, with the egg shaped head.

The name Loretta is of course a reference to a character in the Monty Python film, Life of Brian, and as I was thinking about Monty Python, this comment by @nyarlathotep made me think of Terry Gilliam's old Monty Python animations.

I think that was my favourite part of the whole Monty Python show.

Here is a sample of some of his films:

And here is a fabulous detailed introduction to how he made them :)

I love monty python and Life of Brian is my favourite. I can't wait to see the new pages.

There are actually two roles in the comic that are named after life of Brian-characters. Judith and Loretta and they both appear in this scene:

Gilliam's animations were an integral part of Python. The guy has a great imagination.

I remember when seeing the shows on television, that the only thing I really understood was the Gilliam animations. Later my father took us to the cinema and saw Life of Brian and I was old enough to get some of the jokes, like the stoning scene. I still love the absurd humour of Gilliam and we are lucky that he went on to directing films after Python.

The video that explains his technique is a must see for every animator or collage artist 😊

That was a really good find. I have never seen it before.

That video of Terry Gilliam's techniques is a great finding ! Thanks for sharing :)

Yep!
