Rest in peace Microsoft Paint

in animation •  7 years ago

I found out that Microsoft is planning on discontinuing Microsoft Paint. So sad. I used Microsoft Paint to make my low budget animation short film:

  1. I searched for a photo of a genie and photo of footsteps from the Internet.

  2. I used the Microsoft Paint application to create 48 slightly altered pictures of the genie so that when played together (using Microsoft MovieMaker) they would create the illusion of a “magical appearance” of the genie from the lamp. I altered the pictures using the “eraser” feature in Microsoft Paint.

  3. I used this same process for the “footsteps” sequences to create the illusion of “walking”.

"Animation is the process of creating the illusion of motion and shape change by means of the rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other. The illusion—as in motion pictures in general—is thought to rely on the phi phenomenon.” - Wikipedia

Do not worry.

Paint.NET still exists and its free of charge, is quite user-friendly and has good functionality. ^_^

Alternatively the less simple Inkscape if you're more into vector graphics.

One door closes while others open! ^_^

Thanks for the info :-)

You are welcome. ^_^

Plenty of good software out there that serves as a good substitute for 'insert pricey software title here'.

Also they switch only Paint into the market as a free download, also they switch Paint3d after a while into win10 then, so paint isnt lost ;)
