Ryōta Sakamoto is an unemployed 22 year old boy who lives with his mother Yukie. He is one of the world's top players of a combat video game called Btooom !. One day, he wakes up in what appears to be a tropical island, though he does not remember how or why he was transported to it. Wandering around, Ryōta sees someone and calls for help. The stranger responded by throwing a bomb at him. Ryōta soon realizes that his life is in danger and that he has been stuck in a real-life version of his favorite game. In the game Ryōta meets Himiko, which is another Btooom! players - and wives in the game Ryōta.
As the series progressed during Iida's investigation with government agencies such as Matthew Percier, along with the help of Ryōta's stepfather and Hisanobu's uncle and Mitamura, it was revealed that Tyrannos Japan, the developer of Btoom! has been linked to a terrorist organization called the Schwaritz Foundation, in an attempt to use the players as their test to conquer the whole world and get rid of the evidence of open crime they are perpetrating today.
the anime has 12 episodes on the first season but the second season project is not continued anymore so to know the continuation of the story annda can read manga directly because this anime has a very epic storyline.

However, if their avatar dies in the game, their body also dies in the real world. The following story is Kirito, a skilled player who is determined to beat the game. Because the game lasts for two years, Kirito eventually befriends a female player named Asuna and eventually he falls in love. After the duo discover the identity of Kayaba's avatar in SAO, they confront and defeat him, freeing themselves and other players from the game.

Both won and were offered to live in a game-centered world. They accepted the offer, but still did not believe it until they were taken to a world known as Disboard. There is a regulation called the Ten Promises to prevent Disboard citizens from harming each other, forcing them to settle their disputes with the game. Sora and Shiro settled in Elkia, a country inhabited by humans, and befriended a nobleman named Stephanie Dola. Knowing about Elkia's decline, the two participated in a tournament to determine the next ruler; after winning the crown, they get the right to challenge other species on the Disboard as human representatives. Their next goal is to conquer the sixteen species in order to challenge Tet.
