The rejection of anime

in anime •  7 years ago

Hey I get you man, I'm a fan of anime and manga too. Just look at the posts that I've made on this site so far for proof of that. With that said, I think you're coming off as a little dismissive here. Sure people that write off anime as brain anesthetic for nine-year-olds are also being dismissive, but we're trying to be better than them aren't we?

But also, I don't think anime is even seen as a basement-dweller activity anymore. Massively popular youtubers, Netflix, Arby's have all come out and shown their support for anime, and it's gradually becoming more acceptable to the layman.

It would be interesting if this were an active debate or something, but as it stands, aren't you just scoring goals with no opponent? I'd much rather grant exposure for things that I like than trying to convince people that they're thinking the wrong way.

You're right, thank you for your comment, I think I have to rethink this and I have to think about what anime means to me and I also think I was too quick to write just because I think something is wrong doesn't mean I should write it.
