My Anime Tribute: Collection of 4 ASMVs 2 AMVs 4 Soundtracks 3 Bounus Material - Have FUN!!!

I love anime. Therefor I love AMVs and ASMVs. The terms stands for Anime Music Video and Anime Story Music Video. The similar kind of works can be seen around other mediums too. But it's special when it comes to anime. Anime is Intense. Anime don't tend to pull its punches and anime plays for impact. Sometime entire portions or episodes simply just look like an Extended ASMV. Anime makes Michael bay movies look Highschool Musical and Tarantino look Kindergarten. I'll start with a softer AMV Example:

I'm really sorry for the video quality. It's a re-upload of a once great AMV. Uploading a better quality one to DTube would be plagiarizing. So I won't do that.
Anime Used:

Shiki - Simply hypnotic and amazing. This was the one with vampires. Easily the best story involving vampires ever told. Everything fits. The art, music, tone, themes. Hypnotic is really the word.
Kara no Kyōkai:The Garden of Sinners - Beautifully animated utterly complex psychological surreal story. Amazing action and crazy good music that actually end up summarizing the entire story while the end credits are playing.
Deadman Wonderland - It's nice. Better than watching your average YA based Hollywood flick or even most comic book stuff. But there are better stuff. It's still a decent watch with epic opening song

Now let's see what an ASMV is.Please watch this one in full screen. It's not because of action or anything. Just trust me on this one. Just put it on full screen and just sit back and let the whole thing play.

Hope you got that shift in middle part. If you are not a fan of anime, let me tell you that these kind of inspiring roller coaster is the bread and butter of "Shounen Anime". This kind of an experience is the norm.

The next one is something that is more profound than a feature length movie. It's so good and I've seen so many times that I don't even need the subtitles. I can practically give the translation by memory. It's not something I intended to remember. It's just that the words were so poetic and true and filled with wisdom that it just rings in the back of your head.

I haven't tried this. But I think the ASMV that I'm going to share below is a pretty good way to kick of a conversation with an anarcho-capitalist/libertarian. The short clip touches many things that libertarians are talking about. If we need a better world, we need to understand the concepts that can help to build that world. Since anime has less budget and almost no SJWs, they can afford to touch many controversial or just under-discussed topics.

The anime Parasyte: The Maxim talks about many deep philosophical topics beyond just body invasion and battle royale. It confronts humanity with the effects of humanity on the planet. I haven't read the manga and the anime doesn't even explain how the Parasytes came to be. They come into the world almost like a natural mechanism (like the movie Happening) and they evolve. I don't mean just evolving to kill better or fight better. The Parasytes participate in election, they get pregnant, they learn about humanity. The list goes on.

Let's talk production Quality

Above you are seeing an AMV made 10 years ago. The anime actually started airing in 2002 and the subject matter is at the level of Matrix - including episodes that are like the scene with the Architect.

Think about a script like the above part taking the reign of a series many times during the season. That's GitS for you and this was the most expensive TV anime at that point in history. That's Japan for you!

Fun Fact: My profile pic comes from Laughing Man in the first season of GitS: Stand Alone Complex

Let's hear some Kenji Kawai

Kenji Kawai is best listened when you are alone and relaxed or just want to be with someone close but without speaking a single word. The music simply captures GitS and if you can connect with the beats of the music, GitS is right for you.

That's from the second movie by Mamoru Oshii. It's easily the most complex and deepest of all of GitS. Not something with real human being; respects to all the great performers.

If you'd like a different kind of GitS music, here is the more futuristic sounding OP from the movie Solid State Society

No medium has inspired me as much as Anime. Nothing else has been able to leave an impact as huge as anime. So I'm Going to leave with this BANG!!! ASMVs capture the best essance of Anime. Here is some of the best moments :)

Them Japanese make some killer Anime. I still remember watching my first anime, which was Ninja Scroll. Changed the way I watched toons.

That's one hell of a way to start your anime journey. 80s and 90s had some killer stuff like Akira, Ninja Scroll, GitS, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Zeta Gundam, Ideon, Serial Experiments Lain and many more.

Really interesting that you combine anime and music. Excellent post.

Thank you. I'll be making a lot more :)

Nothing like japanese anime!
really changed the way I see things... no matter what other movies or serials I watch nothing comes close to these!
thank you for this wonderful blog post!

Hell YES! Glad to follow an anime fan. No other medium can compare with anime. Even Matrix wouldn't exist if it wasn't for GitS (according to the creators of Matrix). No other medium consistently reach the depths, thrills, horrors, explosions, music, surrealism, philosophy..... well anything and everything.

That's a fact more people need to realise and start watching more anime :D
