Joe's loneliness by pralinoboursin
What's the series that bring you unfathomable joy every time you watch it? You would think it's easy, but many struggle to know the answer to one of life's biggest questions themselves.
Here's what you need to understand. What you think is best, what you think you enjoy the most, and what you think is your favourite, are all PRETTY different.
What you think is best - A series might be more deserving of your love than some other series, but you personally don't feel that attached to it.
What you enjoy the most - This series may not be some avant garde masterpiece, but you really enjoyed it nevertheless.
What you think is your favourite - This is actually the answer you're looking for, but should it be a series you enjoy the most, or a series that you think is the best? How do you reconcile with both? I tend to lean more on the enjoyment side of a series, but I've seen others lead more on the quality side of it, which at the end of the day is still subjective. At the end of the day, it's about finding the right natural balance between both.
So what's actually your favourite series? That is up to you to decide but I hope I helped a bit in tackling these annoying and useless thoughts of choosing x series over y series.
If you find this post useless, I apologise. I just had to get it out of my system.

Yes, I like your distinctions.
I've only ever seen one anime series, and that was Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Loved the original movie. Recent re-make not so much.
I certainly think about music/albums along those lines - there are albums I'm not so keen on, but recognise their importance culturally in some manner. And then there are my favourites because of how they've touched something within me deeply, and yet hardly anyone has heard them, knows them, or even likes them.
Wonderfully insightful piece. 😊🙏🏽☯️

Thank you for your comment, peterloupelis. Yes, while my comment is aimed at anime, it can be applied to everything else in life. I do however must point out that the music community is a lot more diverse than the anime community. With music, people are more upfront with what they like and don't like, but I feel that with the anime community, people seem to gravitate towards a certain series just to peer pressure more so than everything else.

What I find the best and my favourite are the same thing. If a show is the best, it must be my favourite. I don't have a show I enjoy the most because it's not possible to quantify emotion, so it would be meaningless to try and rank something like that.
