Sometimes two things that shouldn't work totally do, and it is awesome. Like pizza and ranch dressing Samurai Champloo combines a rap/hip-hop vibe with an a tale about ancient Japan and a girl on a search for the samurai who smells of sunflowers.
It's a tale of intense violence, loyalty and honor, and a temporary truce between three unlikely characters.
Even though the two feel so different Samurai Champloo plays very much like a not-quite-successor to Cowboy Bebop. This is in no small part because of the fact that the same person who play Spike Speigel in Cowboy Bebop also plays Mugen, the animal-like warrior from Samurai Champloo.
The show had great action and a solid storyline, and while it's not quite the invincible gem that Cowboy Bebop is, you definitely won't regret watching it.
