Fruits basket, anime that undoubtedly became one of my favorites, either for its incredible and original plot even for the detail and every emotion it can convey, so I hope you like it. Without further ado let's start.

History shows us Tohru Honda, a high school student who, because of her mother's death, is in the custody of her grandfather, who for some circumstances has the need to make renovations in the house where they lived. Thanks to this, Tohru decides to live in a tent in the middle of the forest which was among the land owned by the Sōma, they discovering the state in which they lived, they offer to host it in exchange for domestic services, which It ends up being mutually beneficial by beginning to live with the optimistic personality of Tohru and that she herself discovers the secret of this family.
This work has been a boom from its first version, to this second version. The story, although simple, has left a mark that after 18 years of waiting remains strong and even more, that through this new premise, it wants to achieve what was not achieved with the previous one.
Now, all who saw both the first version and the manga, we realize that the story in this remake could say that it goes faster (which does not mean that the first version is bad, on the contrary xd) giving it a plus that covers more of the manga, which has been a complete surprise and change for those who saw the first version
At first glance, at least for me it is interesting how the characters began to relate, how quickly Tohru adapted to the Sōma and vice versa. Although, the story becomes interesting from the beginning thanks to the originality of the fantasy context that we want to give, 12 members of the Sōma family that become the signs of the Chinese zodiac when someone of the opposite sex hugs them, due to a damn. In this it could be said that the leader is Akito Soma, whom some consider him a great entity, has been the cause of several problems for the signs and that he will be seen as a type of opponent for Tohru. Something simple, not so original but that by giving it a chance, this work surprises. As well as the comfortable entrance to the anime that they give us, with various methods without departing from reality, simple but that does not fall on the most "normal and that you always see".
We all have something that makes us wonderful and that is what Tohru wants to do in them, with constancy. There is always the right time when they realize that, although not quite. For example with Hatori or Momiji are the stories that have taken me a few tears, preferring to make people who love lose their memories to have a normal life, without making any selfish decision is undoubtedly one of the most dramatic parts of the anime. Still, an anime full of a heavy drama does not.
As well as we are presented with the problem of mutual jealousy between Kyo and Yuki, a situation in which they do not realize what they are worth. Yuki having envy because Kyo can socialize better than him and Kyo because he sees that Yuki everything goes perfect, but they do not finish noticing their good points, something that Tohru sees from afar, and as always that custom that I love, she arrives to highlight that special part and because of this they can begin to understand themselves.
We see that it is described as "romance". I wouldn't say it's all about that, but I couldn't say that they don't want to put even a bit of that in the plot, giving us causes of romance like Yuki and Kyo are for Tohru. It is more about the experiences of each one, as Tohru is discovering each member of the zodiac and not only discovering what are, but also, important aspects of his life and brief facets, things that explain in several chapters what is very positive in my perspective Thus becoming fragments of reflection with each story. But even though they want to give that "fantasy" view it ends up looking real, the insecurities, emotions, problems of the characters that are caused by the curse. Here is the role of Tohru that as the story progresses makes each of the characters can change and look forward despite the problems. In addition to presenting conflicts and ways to resolve them that makes one feel identified.
We also have the comedy and the typical 'Slice Of Life', since they all live in the same house, study in the same high school and are in the same class, in short, following the daily life of the characters but this time a comedy from a more different point (speaking in comparison to the first version of the anime that was more accentuated to the typical Japanese comedy), an easy-to-understand comedy and some fragments or scenes cited about tragic situations.

Tragic situations like when coffee fell on Shigure's manuscript thanks to the fact that Ritsu was altered as usual, that did make me laugh out loud or when Yuki took out his side of conquest to distract the mailman who touched Kagura and made it transform xd

A character that contributes too much to the story and in a good way. Tohru is the one who makes the characters develop little by little despite their differences and ways of thinking.
Tohru with her innocence and optimism manages to find that warmth in their hearts without her noticing. I like when you use the stories or things that your mother told you as a child to help or make them part of their methods of help, the concern that arises when someone is wrong makes me love this character too much.
In addition to that we have Hanajima and Uotani (her two friends) who make her develop, and would have been a support for her since they met. As I said Tohru also influenced her life what she describes as "salvation" is amazing the way that Tohru only comes to your life to "save you" only with her joy, despite all the things that happened in her life what It would give the right to hate fate itself. Something negative but not very serious is the fact that she always cares for others rather than herself. Like the motivation you have even if you are told that it is being used is a bit curious, a normal person would bother thinking that it is being used but she does not, it just makes everything genuine.
Another thing to highlight is the connection between the name of the anime "fruit basket" and Tohru's analogy with the rice balls, in the scene mentioned by Tohru herself where he tells how they excluded her from a game that was about fruits referring to her like rice.

Yuki, one of my favorite characters and who like Tohru as one of the main characters contributes to the story. Being of the zodiac signs, he is possessed by the mouse sign and we could say that thanks to an urban history that does not benefit the cat sign much, Kyo ends up hating Yuki since childhood.
According to him, he is kind only in view of others, but it is interesting how he has the motivation for each day to fight against his negative side and gradually move forward, learn to love himself and make his past not influence his present, attributing This new aptitude to his friendship with Tohru. It could also include traumas although I would be doing some spoilers. Apparently in his part of the story he suffers a great trauma for Akito, since we could say he destroyed it psychologically causing him to not spontaneously maintain his interpersonal relationships, but they still do not know how to fully explain what he is, only thanks to that resentment was born, a mysterious and dark side, (as Hanajima would say with its waves that detected it xd).
Although for some people Yuki's personality is "hypocritical" in my opinion it does not reach that point. Rather he strives not to reach such a point that his mask as a super-sociable and popular kind boy becomes a mask fake enough to be "hypocritical."
"Do you learn to love yourself? What does that mean? How are we supposed to find something good about ourselves? The reason we hate ourselves is because we only see the part we hate. Kyo, the sign of the cat who, for reasons that I already mentioned, has great rivalry with Yuki. He is one of the characters that I think changed too much, if we go to his way of thinking. His story is let's say the one that brings the most drama to the anime (along with Yuki's, only I feel that they covered Kyo's most). But like all the stories that show Kyo's is one that leaves teaching in my view.
Teaching which looks more than everything (here is spoiler) when Tohru discovers a part of him, which he hates, implying that although you hate some part of yourself when a person comes to want that part of you little by little You will begin to understand it, after all it is part of you. His personality is somewhat rough and he has a hard time expressing his true feelings (typical Shoujo xd character) Being a suspicious person is a bit difficult for Tohru to make Kyo start to open his heart and make himself known a little more, but as they are giving a background of everything that happened, their way of being is understood, as I mentioned before, it changes but not so much, but it is a more genuine person to be with Tohru.
It is worth mentioning some of the most mentioned and it is the exclusion of Kyo in the 12 zodiac signs, which is why, like the other signs, he holds a great grudge against this curse.

As for animation, I have no complaints, it is an animation that plays intelligently with the color palette and they know how to adapt them to each situation, in addition to the designs attracting attention (or at least to me), as well as also according to the personality of each one, the tones used are consistent with each moment. The places where the anime takes place are different but where it is more frequent is obviously the house of the Soma. Without more, the way they show the scenes make the receiver feel comfortable and can be connected at the moment.
Like the comedy contributed to it makes some awkward situations bearable which gives it one more point.

The soundtrack is consistent with the anime, if we talk about the OST's put in the "sad" scenes or scenes that lead to explain some situation, an example is when Tohru realizes who he considers his true family and people with Who wants to be (OST 5). As for Opening's and Ending's they go perfectly with the theme to show, he Ending 1 made by Vickeblanka (which I love many including me), and his Opening 1 are nice, which makes it difficult to get tired of them, apart from the tranquility and purity that they transmit. While the Opening 2 gives the closing of the first part in a fun way representing with umbrella and the Ending 2 gives the feeling of harmony just like the Ending 1.

In conclusion, the work done in this anime with the development of both the main and secondary characters is excellent, although the characters that stand out are Tohru, Yuki and Kyo but the way we are also starting to get to know each one and by Chapters is comforting, they give everything with a background. We have the typical Tohru formula "going to save the day" which is something very repetitive in the anime but even if it is, for some reason it does not get tired, on the contrary, it is increasingly giving more life lessons and becomes interesting see the "what will he do next, what will he say?" As this happens. We also have the conflict with the Sōma family which is not fully understood this season, so I hope in the other if we can see this conflict better developed.
While it could be both negative and positive to move forward without the need to develop the main conflict of the plot, although that would be the only thing more or less negative that I would see; otherwise it is an excellent shoujo. Personally I followed the anime by the plot, which did not show me much but if I know that it remained throughout the anime, only they did not give themselves to explain completely. Although it is one of my favorites from the most sincere I would give a 9/10 for the reasons mentioned.
