Nintento Japan on Thursday (01/02/2018) said they were working on an anime film featuring iconic video game icon Super Mario in collaboration with the studio of the United States (USA) that produces Despicable Me.
Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Super Mario Bros games and Donkey Kong in the video game giant based in Kyoto, has long worked with Chris Meledandri in Illumination Entertainment to produce Mario anime.
"People are telling me that making games is the same as making a movie, and I'm flattered by people who say things like 'If you can make a game, you can also make movies'," Miyamoto told reporters at Tokyo.
"However, both are very different," said Miyamoto who had previous experience in directing short films.
"One interactive experience and the other is a passive experience," he said. He stressed that filmmaking requires filmmaker and Meledandri is an experienced producer.
Previously Meledandri once made Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, and other box office films, according to AFP.
