Nerima is considered the birthplace of Japanese anime, or at least one of them. You can find these bronze statues at Ooizumi-Gakuen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro metro line. All photos by me.

The Anime Gate also has placards showing many of the famous anime series produced in the district over the years, including Dragonball and Sailor Moon. If you're an anime fan, it's worth the trip -- about 45 minutes from central Tokyo.
I'd like to visit this place in the future. One of my first animes is Astro Boy!
