Hello fellow Steemians!
Today marks my 6th anniversary on this incredible platform. I'm thankful that a couple of entrepreneurs pointed me to Steemit and had me to get involved. As you can see by my picture, I am excited for all of the things that I have learned, and even more excited for the things to come.
I want to share just a few things that I have learned over the past 6 months to help others see success here on Steemit:
Consistency is key to being successful.
You have to post, upvote, and comment regularly. There is no way around it. If you don't, then no one will know who you are. I am not telling you that you have to be here every single day, every hour, so that you can read everything that everyone posts. That is just crazy talk. But you have to make time in your schedule to share QUALITY content, to support others who are sharing great content, and to be a part of the community in general.
Which brings me to the next point....Find a smaller community that excites you.
I started with something simple, doing the #sevendaybnwchallenge. This is where I posted seven days worth of black and white pictures of aspects of my life, with no explanation. Through doing this, I was fortunate to connect with #needleworkmonday, a group of amazing people who love arts and crafts and share their projects every single Monday. I crochet from time to time, and made a commitment to do something every month to keep up my skills (and keep my stress level down). This group has been SO perfect for me. Through this group, I was connected to the #fiberartists group, which has a discussion on the Discord app on Mondays. Plus, I found out about "Pimp Your Post Thursdays" (also on Discord), which allows me to find other Steemians with great content that I can follow.
If you start small and try a contest or challenge, that can blossom into the BEST relationships and connections.Give of yourself, and the money will follow.
Do you know the saying that when you chase money, you'll never catch it, but when you chase your purpose, then money will follow? Well, I have found that to be true here on Steemit. There were a few posts that I wrote that no one read. Those posts were written at a time when I was chasing the cash, hoping that I would get payouts like I was seeing other people getting. Once I turned my focus to doing what I loved, and sharing what matters to me, and sharing things that I saw from other people...that is when my payout amounts started creeping up. Patience is something you are REQUIRED to have on this platform.Be here for the long haul.
Finally, don't just come thinking that you will make thousands upon thousands of dollars the first day you arrive. There were people who started the same day I did (10/10/2017), and they are not on Steemit any longer. You have to stick with it and keep on sharing, keep on helping others, keep on getting involved. Be here as often as possible, and don't give up when you don't see massive success immediately. Becoming an expert in a subject takes time. If you want to be an expert in Steemit, it will take time, patience, and involvement.
I am still a student here on Steemit - still learning a TON of things. I don't do everything right, but I am still here, reading how-to posts and learning from the Steemians who are veterans.
Hope these tips will help you make it through your first 6 months (or remind you to go back to the basics of when you first started here on this platform).
