Orca are fast and stealthy apex predators that will literally appear out of nowhere when you are exploring this part of the world, which means you have to keep your eyes open constantly in search of them. Most times you never get the opportunity to interact with them from a zodiac BUT every once in a while you get an amazing chance to do so.
We were zodiac cruising in an area called Hidden Bay on the peninsula and I had a great feeling that they were some orca around in certain areas. I took my zodiac and guests out to a region where I could scan with binoculars and before I knew it, I saw a few black fins in the distance! BOOM! success!! I moved the vessel into their vicinity and not long after that we had a pod of 15+ orca surfacing all around our zodiac for is a rare and close encounter. They didn't stick around for long, as they were preoccupied with searching for food and before we knew it they were off on their way to find their lunch. As they did have a lot of mouths to feed and require quite a bit of hunting to get that much needed food. Either way, it was an awesome experience for myself as well as the guests I had on board with me on the small zodiac
