The on again, off again drama surrounding Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua is apparently back on again.
While the two have yet to meet in the ring during their careers, it has not been for a lack of effort on Wilder's part. He's now taking that to a whole new level by calling out his chief boxing rival.
"No more excuses, no more waiting, no more dodging me ... it's time. It's time to see who's the best, who's the baddest man on the planet," Wilder told TMZ Sports. He then said "I declare war."
To be fair, the two are the most-dominant heavyweight fighters in the world. Wilder boasts a career 40-0 record, having most recently defeated Luis Ortiz to retain his title. Meanwhile, Joshua has a bout set against Joseph Parker later this month and boasts a career 20-0 record with 20 knockouts.
A fight between the two would be of epic proportions. Joshua comes in as the second-most popular figure in the SNIPdaily Boxing Top 100 for the year, while Wilder ranks as the ninth-most popular figure.
The interest would be there. And it would be one intense bout. So we're pretty much in lock-step with Wilder here.
