Anti Aging Tip Blue Light Skin Care-Is your Phone AGING Your Skin?

Hey there, it's Christy from Go See Christy Beauty Boutique, and in this video today we're going to be talking about blue light and how it may be contributing towards the premature aging of your skin. So blue light may come from your phone, your laptop, your computers, and any other electronic devices. Now on the flip side, blue light can also be helped to treat Acne, but that's not going to be discussed in this video. So in our last video we talked about how UVA rays -- which you cannot see -- is the major contributor of premature aging in your skin. So if you haven't caught that, then go ahead and check that last video out. So, on with this new topic of how blue light may be prematurely aging your skin. And for those of you who this is the first time in watching our channel, welcome and thank you for watching. I have been treating clients with hyperpigmentation, anti-aging, and Acne for over eleven years at my boutique located in Southern California. And as always, links and sources will be located in the description below. And a quick SHOUT OUT to our binge watchers: EXCI Gold, Ashley Jay, and Chrissy Moss. Thank you for watching, guys! So this is a mouthful, so I'm actually gonna get it from my sources. Okay. So it says, according to article titled: "Electronic Device Generated Light Increases Reactive Oxygen Species -- this is otherwise known as ROS -- in Human Fibroblasts". So the studies were performed where they exposed AG 13145 Fibroblast. And this is in, you know, iPhone, so specifically iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 6, and the firt- iPad 1st Generation, at a reading distance level of one-centimeter to measure the EDGL -- which is the Electronic Device Generated Light. This includes all measurable light, including UV light, and any type of light that is generated from iPhones, and computers, and electronic devices. So after one-hour exposure of the Electronic Device Generated Light, it showed a significant increase in the cells of ROS -- which is the Reactive Oxygen Species. And that is one of the major contributors of premature aging of skin cells. It not only stops the repair and regeneration of DNA, it actually leads to fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, as well as loss of elasticity. So the increases are as follows: So this is an a-, iPhone 8 Plus, the increase was 87.71%, the iPhone 6, an increase of 85.79%, and the iPad 1st Generation, an increase of 92.98%. However, a non-significant change in Apoptosis -- and I refer to that term before in other videos -- Apoptosis is basically cell death. And Necrosis is basically the premature death of a cell. So it's a cell injury that leads to the premature death of a cell. So based on those studies, it does show some increase of the ROS species in the skin cells, however, the long-term effects are still not studied and are not inconclusive. And we have to remember that this experiment was actually based not on live skin, but human skin cells in a petri dish or in vivo. However, when there was another experiment done on actual live skin, but the live skin were from mice, according to this study, they do see that even on live skin -- even though it's mice -- that they do show an increase of the Reactive Oxygen Species increasing in live skin when exposed to a blue light. So basically the result is that they have found that the same reaction happens in live skin when exposed to blue light just like the same as UVA rays. Now here comes the Cosmetic Chemistry part. Three different cosmetic active ingredients were specifically chosen for their anti-oxidant capabilities to reduce ROS and Rosacea. Now we're not going to get into the minute details of this, but I will leave the links below if you are willing to read the scientific journal article. Some of the ingredients used were Sunflower Oil, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Ethyl Ferulate, and Polyglyceryl-5 Trioleate. This reduced the amount of ROS in the cells that were exposed by the blue light in the Basale layer. There was an application test that was done on 53 women. It was 21 women that were placebo and 32 that applied the 3% of the combined ingredients previously mentioned. The test was done where the women applied the application two times a day for 84 days. So for those that had Rosacea, that we're doing this application, the red spots were reduced by over 8.5% over baseline placebo. Now the MOST improved by one individual was over 44.3% reduction of red spots caused by capillaries. And one of the products that we sell in our store, the MD Dermaceutical Overnight Repair Cream, does include the Sunflower Oil in addition to the other anti-oxidants, and a balanced blend of occlusives, humectants, and emollients. Now another protective ingredient that has been shown to protect you from the photo-aging capabilities is Lutein. This bright orange flower, Marigold, has HIGH amounts of Lutein. And Lutein is a Marigold pi-, Marigold-based Carotenoid. According to a study, Lutein actually has HIGH protection from UV light and blue light, both from the sunlight and artificial light. The maximum absorption is 446 nanometers. So one of the products I'd like to talk about is this one called Urban Anti-pollutions Essence. It is a water-like gel serum, or essence -- it's actually a little bit thicker -- and so you can-, what you can do is you can use this directly on clean dry skin, and then on top of that is where you would use your serums or your creams, depending on if you're not using any serums. And so what this does is it actually filters out blue rays. I actually saw a video from this company where it actually had a blue ray, and it showed this product in a container along with another gel-like substance that had some, you know, some colorants in there, and they actually had the blue ray going through it, and it actually did block out the blue rays for this. And so what it does is it hydrates the skin, it actually filters out blue rays, as well as protects your skin from oxidative stress from pollution. So the hydration properties, I looked at the list of ingredients, was Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate. So this product here, I looked in the ingredients here, and pretty high up on here has Xanthophyll. So Xa-, Xanthophyll is actually the extract from Marigold to help filter out blue rays. So it's pretty high up on the ingredients list. Okay, so this also has the Hydrolyzed Rhodophycea Extract, that's a macroalgae, and it's been shown to fight the pollution, the heavy metals in-, and ozone in the air, it also helps balance out Sebum production. And the next beneficial ingredient is Saccharide Isomerate (hope I said that right) this actually helps to exfol-, exfoliate AND hydrate or moisturize the skin. This also helps the new Corneo- cytes to be healthy, so the results of that are less visible pores and resistant to external stressors. So, further down it says Theobroma Cacao, which is Cocoa Extract, and so it's an extract from Cocoa seeds, and basically this also helps filter out blue light. Okay, so the other one is Biosaccharide Gum-1, and basically that's a Polysaccharide, and this forms a film creating a barrier between your skin and the pollution outside, so it protects the skin, again, from environmental stressors, as well as indoor pollution.
