Research has shown that, about 80% of people using smartphone are Android Application users. I also agree with articles that predicts the likelihood of Android reaching a larger proportion of humanity than any comparable technology in the near future. Currently, they also form the vast majority of market share in some areas of the world.
And that notwithstanding, why are articles addressing the benefits of iPhone Applications over Android Applications and why yet still, consumers’ patronage for Android Applications seem higher than iPhone Applications? In my writing today, I hope to touch on some few issues which are perhaps answers to these thoughts.
Surveys have confirm a notion that Android Applications users are poorer as compared to iPhone Application users. The Guardian Newspaper reported in the Queen’s land out of a survey that proves that men aged sixteen (16) to twenty-four (24) fall within the "lower income" group that are mostly found of Google’s Moto G. and Out of these lower income groups, 83% of the buyers are male, and 40% of the buyers also have annual earnings of below £20,000. The Guardian Newspaper also went ahead to report that Google's Moto G budget Android smartphone, grabbed 6% of the market in just (3) three months simply because a high-quality phone for a low price appealed to poor men. So one can understand why one will choose to be an Android Application user than being an iPhone Application user. If you doubt this statement, then how would you explain this survey that also indicates that about 450 million people on WhatsApp are mainly Android Application users?
It is in order if one writes an article depicting the characteristics or behaviors of Android Application users as compared to iPhone Application users. One may agree that it gives you a better understanding of the various users or consumers and their expectations. The following statistics indicate why application developers prefer to design phone applications for iPhone users than Android users.
Research conducted shows that iPhone Application users are the ones spending all the money in that iPhone Application users spent $93.94 per order surprisingly nearly as twice as compared to Android Application users, who spent just $48.10 even though Android users’ phones have bigger screens and are just as powerful as that of iPhone users’ but just seem to be folding their hands at least not financially.
Studies have also indicated that Android application users are less lucrative as compared to iPhone Application users. One interesting thing is that these application designers are also iPhone users themselves.
Based on the fact that iPhone offers application designers and developers a lucrative platform to sell their apps to consumers, is that enough reason for an app designer and developer to work for iPhone? Or are application designers supposed to consider a wider platform (Android as compared to iPhone’s when iPhone is gradually losing its grip especially in the world’s largest and most populous continent thus Asia?
