Facing my fears and trying new things 💪🏻 ..... Yes, that is a power rack! ...

in appics •  6 years ago  (edited)

... I’ve mostly just done cardio for my workouts in the past - or workout DVD’s that involved light dumbbells. I’ve always been a little intimidated to venture over to the “dude” part of the gym... you know the area with all the grunting? 😂

I’ve decided to face those fears and start training with real weights. It will be a slow process because I want to spend tons of time on getting my form right - but I’m excited to get stronger and see my body change.

This photo was taken yesterday and even though I took it super easy the first day - you better believe I am sore as hell today! Bring on all the salt baths and stretching to rehab my muscles and get ready for my next lift session in a few days! 😅 #dohardthings

Yeahh Here is one of the sportive steemian woman. Congrats and Keep going on ....

Thanks @cryptoewp! 💪🏻

Squats, deadlift and bench press. The only three lifts anyone should have to do! Throw in planks and some running, and you're good.

Don't go too heavy. It may feel easy at first but good form is waaaay more important!

Thanks holo! I’m definitely planning to take it super slow and work on form for a long time before layering on extra weight.

As for excercises - I’m planning to just cycle through 5 excercises - squats, bench press, barbell row, deadlift and overhead press. So far I’ve just done the squats and bench press and will spend the next month learning good form and adding in the others. 😃

It is so satisfying putting it all together in a clean and jerk when you graduate to that level of confidence and good form! :) Good luck with it, and stay injury free, unlike me!

Oh no!! 😬 Sorry to hear that my friend. 😔

Always face your fears you will be stronger and better for it. Go get it!

Thanks! 💪🏻

As some wise philosopher once said: no pain no gain! 😅 Keep it up! I’m challenging myself on a bike the last weeks. In the beginning it was tough, but now I’m addicted... Hope you’ll have a similar experience!

That’s awesome Michel! So cool that you’ve been pushing yourself on the bike lately. I’m pretty pumped for this new adventure! Never thought I’d be excited about going to the gym. 😂

Thanks! I’m excited to see how this goes!

Love to see people to do workout for their fitness. I also try my best to be regular for my fitness level.

That’s awesome! What do you like to do for your workouts? I’m always curious what works well for other people. 😊

Too much busy life now a days and hardly get a little time in morning, Running 2.00km with stretching excercises simply

Oh nice! Can’t go wrong with some cardio and stretching!

Always great to mix up workouts and try new routines as the body often needs a shock to progress. Enjoy the journey!

Thanks my friend!! 😃

The real question is to do what you believe is important for you!

Couldn’t agree more! Excited to try something new - but listening to your body to see what works is always the most important thing. 😊

Oh cool!! Thank you!

Mental strength overcomes all the fear...

That’s true... easier said than done though. 😬 I felt so uncomfortable for the first half hour - but once I broke through that it was so much easier! 😅

Ye, I understand you!
As humans, we fear the unknown and everything that takes us out of our comfort zone...
