Time Flies. This is a picture I found of me from almost thirty years ago on a trip ...

... to Washington DC. The person in this picture existed in such a different world (before the internet, social media, mobile phones) and didn’t have a clue of the adventures he’d take part in. I feel happier and a little wiser now. Aging is such an incredible journey if you’re paying attention.

I have a photo just like that. Ready to take on the world. Unaware of exactly what that means.

It's crazy to look at the past sometimes.

You're right, I had no idea how the world worked back then or how tough it would really be. I was blissfully ignorant.

Oww what a sweet photo 😊 I love your take on life as well.

Thanks, it's hard to believe how much has changed between now and then!

Thank you!

@ericvancewalton, In every phase we faced Evolution Stage. And every phase hold it's own unique stories which cannot take over by the past stories or future stories. Stay blessed.

Time really flies too quickly : )

You looked very smart thirty years ago .

You are looking very smart in this pic .

It’s very impressive how rapidly our society has advanced since back then.

Sir @ericvancewalton,
Mind concentration is the best par of success i think... Nice advice sir.. Have a good day

It seems you are a socially active young man during your youthful age, alot has changed now , nice photo @ericvancewalton

Did your drink of choice change much over the years?

In my 20's, if I had a drink, it was a Rye and Ginger (I never grew a taste for beer). Now, I skip the ginger. A nice whiskey, neat or occasionally on the rocks.

When I was younger I mainly drank mainly American mainstream beer (Budweiser, Coors) but progressed to Sam Adams in my mid 20's. Now it's usually red wine or a little Irish whiskey on the rocks. Bushmills has been the brand I've liked the most.

Have you tried RedBreast? It is comparable in price to Bushmills, but I find it a little smoother.

I haven't tried that one but will look for it. Thanks!

Also, one of my favourite distillery tours was the Midleton Distillery (Red Breast is distilled there). Highly recommended if you every make it to Cork, Ireland.

We'll keep that in mind! We hope to make it to Ireland in the next couple of years. We found ourselves in a wine shop today and I saw two different varieties of Red Breast but the least expensive was around $49 per bottle. Is there more of an entry level variety? I usually get Tullamore Dew or the Bushmills white label and these run around $25 here in the US.

That's the normal price. It's a sipper.

Another well priced bottle is "Writers Tears" which would be fitting for a steem blogger. :-)

Maybe I'll splurge on a bottle of that soon. Haha, "Writers Tears"....being a writer affords plenty of opportunities to shed a few tears. ; )

I can tell you have a plastic glass in your left hand. Is that a spoon in your right hand? You were very young there. It is strange to think of that age now. So much has happened over the years. Great shot though. :)

Thanks! I think I was throwing some kind of bottle topper. I think I was 19 or 20 years old here.

That would explain the perspective. Funny, how we look different in different stages of life. 18 is pretty young.

Old pictures are the best and memories...

I love to be able to find this type of photos for the memory, it could be said that it teleports us to those moments of antiquity and gives us a lot of nostalgia. Won't there be some anecdote behind this photo?

I like them too, they have a way of bringing you right back to that time and place. I was on a road trip with my girlfriend at the time. We drove from Columbus, Ohio to Washington D.C. and spent some time in Baltimore and the outskirts. It was a great adventure for me, once of the first trips I took as an "adult". It sowed the seeds of wanderlust for me later in life.

So very true @ericvancewalton, if only we knew what awaited us not so! Life really is an amazing adventure, and how technology has changed all of that! I still remember arguing that hand draughting maps was much faster than a computer could ever be but I soon learnt just how wrong I was! Lovely photo of a smiley young man :)

Thank you @lizelle! You're so right, we couldn't have ever guessed how far technology would progress. I only heard about Moore's Law in these past few years. After working in the Sci-Fi genre so long and studying the work of futurists I can say that the societal change we lived through from the 90's until now will pale in comparison to what we see in the next ten years. Almost every aspect of life will be subscription-based, from our transportation to most of the higher priced items we now "own". It's going to be an interesting decade!

Well said and I fully agree, I come from those days myself and remember them well, man how time flies!

The 1990's were such a great time to be alive. There was LOTS of change in the air. To me it seemed almost like the hippie generation. I remember there being lots of spiritual shops that sold crystals, rocks and incense.

The 90s wow my youngest son was born in 1990 lol, I was referring way back to the actual hippie era of the 70s and 80s I was born in early 60s so that's when my hay days were lol absolutely no cell phones or computers back then , microwaves were just invented! 🙋😎
