Remember that your first three burns need to be relatively low temp (< 400°F) to get the moisture out of the ceramic. Practice with some low-and-slow roasts, Over the Top Chili, smoked meatloaf etc etc ...

Very nice. My dad has a Kamado Joe that he loves, but I just don't have the kind of money to spend on something like that. In my opinion they are just much too expensive. I am sure they are worth every penny, but still far too expensive to justify the expense. I love reading posts about people that have them though! Maybe one day I will inherit my dad's. I will have to hire some people to move it to my house though!

I prefer light weight grilling. It's all about location for me. If I wanted a grill that can't fit in my trunk, I'd simply cook on my home stove.

I've been looking at a Weber Kettle or the PK Grills when I am ready to get a new one. From what I have seen the PK Grills can be pretty portable and they last a long time.

The mini Weber is pretty good too. You can't do any long projects with it, but it does direct grilling very well, providing even heat across the surface. It also is highly portable.

Yeah, I have a mini Weber, I use it to cook pretty much everything when we go camping. Burgers, brats, steaks, chicken, calzones, etc.
