    I’ve been on that ferry. The folks who live on the island use an ice road in the winter. But for parts of the spring and fall, neither option is available and people on the island are cut off from the mainland.

      Yes, as we live here we’ve had occasion to both ride the ferry and drive on the ice road across Lake Superior.
