Wild desert Goji Berry! We are out hiking some local trails this evening and spotted ...

... some wild goji berry with ripe berries. There are 3 types of wild Goji growing in the southwest deserts. This one looks like Lycium andersonii to me but it could be L. cooperi or L. pallidum too. Hard to tell sometimes lol. These ladies are growing in a sandy wash. Ants are crawling up the bush and carrying the fresh berries away in droves! Birds are having their fill as well! They are sweet but more bitter sweet than the Chinese cousin of goji, Lycium Barbarum, that we showed in a previous appics post. They are all over the deserts here but the fruit go quickly and the plant is harder to identify. This is the time of year to keep your eye out for the red berries! Have a beautiful evening in your part of the world appics community and steem blockchain! Thanks for viewing! I’ll post more information on these three strains of wild desert goji below! thanks for stopping by! :) good to hear from you my friend. yah..it's so cool...we have them growing here. the chinese cousin....L barbarum...is very adaptive...and can handle sub zero temps. look into the "phoenix tears" variety...if you ever try and grow one. grrrreat genetic!

Hello Jake, How are you doing? Apparently you have a hobby of hiking, Jake. It is great for health and is perfect for nature lovers like you. I think the goji berri that grows wild is food provided by God for birds. the fruit looks very pretty in a seductive red color. Enjoy your day, Jake.
